Family Medicine Residency Core Faculty

The Stanford O’Connor Family Medicine Residency Program and University Medical Partners (UMP), a partner of Stanford Medicine, is seeking a full-time board-certified Family Medicine physician to join our clinic, Family Medicine Associates, in San Jose, CA.

 
Position Details:

  • Uniquely collegial and supportive work culture
  • Nine (9) half-day work week composed of three to five sessions seeing patients in Family Medicine Associates practice or residency FQHC clinic at Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley
  • Two to three sessions supervising residents at FQHC clinic
  • One to three half-days protected for teaching/academic pursuits
  • Rotate as inpatient attendings on average of four weeks out of the year supervising residents at O’Connor Hospital, a county-owned, community hospital
  • Access to academic resources for the research-inclined or those with other interests
  • Fifteen (15) other Family Medicine physicians on faculty
  • Diverse patient population

 

Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree
  • Board Certified in Family Medicine
  • Ability to obtain a Medical License in the State of California
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching of residents and students
  • Commitment to providing care to diverse populations and underserved populations
  • Inpatient patient care is required
  • Family Medicine faculty experience preferred
  • Competency in common Family Medicine inpatient and outpatient procedures preferred
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred

About Stanford-O’Connor Family Medicine Residency Program:

The Stanford O’Connor Family Medicine Residency Program is an 8/8/8 innovative academically rigorous community-based program with an emphasis on wellbeing and support. Located in San Jose since 1977, we offer strong OB and behavioral science training, a sports medicine fellowship, and enrichment pathways in Faculty Development (OSLER), integrative medicine, and POCUS. Residents practice full-spectrum family medicine in an unopposed, mid-sized, county-owned community hospital, benefit from teaching and research opportunities with its academic sponsor, Stanford, and share in their mission to care for the urban underserved population of San Jose in their FQHC residency clinic. Its talented and diverse faculty have interests that span the breadth of Family Medicine, including international health, maternity care, mental health, LGBTQ+ health, palliative care, integrative medicine, pain management, quality improvement, practice management, informatics, women’s health, POCUS, academic medicine, HIV/AIDS, advocacy, and sports medicine.

The group is fortunate to attract some of the best residency applicants in the country, which makes teaching these highly motivated, social justice-oriented trainees an absolute pleasure. The 15 family doctors in the faculty enjoy working together, and a majority practice full-spectrum family medicine, including inpatient medicine, procedures, and/or obstetrics.
