Universal Music Group is looking for a Marketing Product Manager to be part of the PRIORITY Distribution team located in Hollywood. The legendary PRIORITY Records is now a pioneering Distributer with an independent focus. This person will oversee and organize all aspects of day to day marketing and will collaborate with our label partners and artists to develop marketing campaigns and strategize the best course to market for their relations. This role will work in tandem with PRIORITY and will also help in rebranding the new vision for PRIORITY Records as a leading Distribution entity.

Job Functions:

Day to day operation:

  • Plan, direct, organize, execute and control artist campaigns
    • Define the positioning of the artist. Why is the artist unique? What makes him different from the plethora of artists out there? Develop the artist story.
    • Work effectively in the strategic planning of the projects.
    • Create timelines for releases/campaigns
    • Create and maintain marketing budgets
    • Monitoring success. Work to maximize revenues and earnings. P&L administration of the projects.
    • Research data within UMG’s diverse information services for decision taking
    • Weekly one-sheets on projects (development of the project, radio, press, blogs, digital updates and key data) Follow up on execution by various departments and provide timely updates

Platform outreach and relationship management:

  • Pitch releases for streaming service playlisting & other key partners
  • Create opportunities with media partners
    • blog outreach, social platform partnerships and contesting, radio campaign oversight

  • Coordinate events
  • Create and develop ideas for the label brand and its various platforms (TV and radio shows, online vertical, special events, etc.)
  • Create and implement full release strategies on priority and key projects
  • Attend planning and scheduling meetings as required

  • Effective communication with artist management
  • Develop relationships with industry and the music community

  • Forge strong working relationships with Artist Management, Marketing Colleagues and A&R Departments across Capitol
  • Established Marketing & Digital Streaming Platform relationships including but not limited to Apple, Tidal, Spotify, & Pandora

Job Requirements:


  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, must have the ability to write and convey marketing strategies to the teams within the label, as well as to management and the artist, bringing concepts to life.
  • Strong computer skills: Spotify, Shazam, Online Advertising, YouTube, Google and Facebook Analytics, Digital Media savvy, Buzzangle
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including prioritization and follow through.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, including adaptability, collaboration and the ability to establish quick rapport.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace under pressure.
  • Tactical and strategic awareness.
  • Understanding of traditional and digital media, including social and content streaming platforms.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Deep understanding of music industry practices and norms.
  • Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and dedication to high quality work.
  • Ability to keep information highly confidential


  • Minimum 3 years of experience doing marketing in the entertainment industry.
  • Experience breaking new artists with a keen understanding of current market conditions, trends and best practices.
  • Urban music insight is crucial.


  • Degree or equivalent experience preferred
