Universal Music Group is looking for a Digital Strategy Director to lead a team of internal digital media planning & buying specialists. This team would be located centrally within the group and be responsible for enhancing the digital media strategy of each label and supporting the implementation of their campaigns.

This is a unique role and is crucial to the success of the internal digital function. The ideal candidate should have a strong insight into the digital media landscape, and an energetic and entrepreneurial character. They should be willing to nurture a rapidly expanding team, and work well with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.


Person specification



  • Demonstrable experience of digital media planning / buying within a fast paced environment
  • Proven people management skills, including previous experience of managing teams
  • Keen understanding of the digital ecosystem and advertising technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of current marketing concepts, strategy and best practice
  • Exposure to methods of digital data management by market-leading brands
  • Experience of cross-departmental collaboration to quickly identify and resolve campaign issues
  • Strategic, financial and operational leadership skills, with a background in trading /negotiation
  • Experience of managing day-to-day relationships with Facebook, Twitter and Google
  • A dynamic, passionate and enthusiastic character, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
