Trupanion is seeking motivated individuals interested in a full-time position to join the growing Claims Support Department.  If you are a confident and self-motivated professional with a talent for staying productive and detail focused, while providing excellent customer service and navigating through a variety of ingoing and outgoing claims data, then this position could be for you!


Key Responsibilities Include:

In the Claims Support Department, Data Assistants are responsible for the data entry of claims information and medical records, and initial claims data requests from veterinary hospitals and customers.  Data Assistants are expected to provide excellent customer service over the phone to existing customers and veterinary hospitals.  Candidates should have an interest in and previous exposure to customer service and should be able to move between different Customer Relationship Management “CRM” systems in order to obtain and input information.  Upon hire, Data Assistants will be expected to complete a training program of up to 90 days, which will involve familiarizing themselves with claims documents and medical history, as well as mastering data entry and communication processes.  After the training period, Data Assistants will be expected to perform at a standard of productivity and accuracy in line with the positive growth rate of the business.


The optimal candidate will have keen problem solving abilities and a desire to work independently, possess strong self-motivation and attention to detail, and will have a minimum of two years of experience in both data entry and customer service roles.  Joining Trupanion with an established understanding of veterinary medical terminology and medical conditions is a major plus!




  • 2+ years experience entering data/orders into customer account databases
  • 1+ years experience providing customer service over the phone


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Excellent typing and 10-key skills
  • Ability to provide customer service via phone and email to internal and external business professionals
  • Computer competent with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and strong documentation skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, hard-working problem solver who is able to work with minimal direction once objectives are clearly stated
  • Active solution seeker and ability to handle stress
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Adaptability to a quickly changing work environment
  • Must be pet-friendly!
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays


Desired Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish and/or French highly desirable (additional $1/hour)
  • Strong preference given to candidates with veterinary hospital experience, including both patient and customer care (additional compensation offered)
