Responsible for driving the adoption of GaN based electronic power applications (i.e.,
adapter, DC-DC, DC-AC, AC-DC, inverter) solutions that optimize performance based on the company’s market leading high voltage GaN technology.  The position requires 5+ years of power electronics experience with an ability to communicate an enthusiastic vision that will compel larger organizations to accept a new solutions.  Previous sales and marketing exposure or background is a plus.  This position offers both technical and business challenges for an entrepreneurial applications engineer.  Work will be part of the Asia team base in Shanghai Asia working for the Head of WW Field Applications Engineering based in Shenzhen..

Responsibilities:  

•  Provides technical support of design-in opportunities at customers in collaboration with field sales support on all high-power device based sales opportunities.
• Assists with the design and assembly of electrical test systems to insure accurate measurement of in circuit performance during both application and qualification testing.
• Works directly with customer engineers on design-in challenges.
• Travel will be required, 50% of the time, including working at the customer sites helping the customers understand and use our products, all across China and occasionally internationally.
• Provides insight from trouble-shooting circuit designs.
• Collects and translates detailed customer requirements into specifications for product development.
• Creates application notes that clarify how best to use these new products.
• Collaborates on strategies for sales growth that will exceed annual revenue plans.

Required Knowledge/Skills:
  

• BSEE or higher degree, prefer MSEE
• 5+ years of hands-on EE experience with semiconductors in the  power industry including circuit design, testing and product qualifications 10 years experience preferred.
• Knowledge of circuit simulation tools such as Spice required. With guidance from engineering, be able to simulate, design, fabricate and assemble various test circuits
• DSP Firmware experience/knowledge if available will be helpful, but not required.
• Knowledge of semiconductor devices (structure, principle of operation) preferred.
• Ability to identify failures in power conversion applications and ability to trace back to root causes.
• Knowledge/experience of automotive applications
• Proven experience visiting customers to describe benefits and win new business.
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach on rapidly acceptance of new.
• Experience of presentation at conferences about electronic power applications preferred.
