Responsibilities:  
 
  • Designs and presents Maintenance Certification Training  
  • Research, designs, and presents classes at all levels of technical knowledge as it relates to theory and practical application of new and existing vehicles, components and systems operations and covering vehicle, equipment, and tool safety classes. 
  •  Maintains instructor manuals, creates handouts, and develops testing for class presentations. 
  • Coordinates all vehicle technology training classes, assuring class size and session times permit attendance of all affected personnel. 
  •  Provides consultation with agency personnel on design for modification to factory provided equipment, troubleshoot technological issues, and to answer questions on current technology. 
  • Administers and tracks the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) program, and Apprentice Mechanic Program.
  • Knowledge of: − Technical skills related to engines, electronics and computer systems, transmissions, hydraulics, pneumatics, and ventilation. − Advanced maintenance theory, operation, analysis, and overhaul. − Training design and presentation methods. − Applicable safety regulations.
  • Ability to: − Develop lesson material and implement effective class sessions. − Train mechanics regarding vehicle diagnosis, repair, and overhaul. − Analyze situations and provide recommendations.
  • Tracks and Reviews Technician progression. 
 
 Requirements:  
 
  • College degree preferred but a combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • ASE Master Tech in Heavy Equipment
  • 10 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of all types of automotive and transit equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and alternate fuel engines and/or internal combustion engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, steering and drivelines.
  • Experience and understanding of modern zero emission vehicles such as Battery Electric and Hydrogen technology.
  • Possess an understanding of the theory of electricity and be able to read and understand wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work with Word and Excel.
  • Able to obtain ASE Master certifications required.
  • Prior experience with computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination and a drug test.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Must complete and sign the Transdev employment application in its entirety.
