Do you have experience providing regulatory guidance on privacy, writing policies, identifying opportunities to optimize regulatory compliance, or building out governance standards and programs with automated controls and mechanisms?  If so, you may be the person we're seeking to help coordinate and support privacy compliance for Xperi as our Global Privacy Compliance Manager.     

The Global Privacy Compliance Lead will work closely with privacy subject matter experts, data security and privacy teams, product managers, customer service teams, business leadership, and the legal team to enable the right solutions to drive privacy compliance and process improvements across Xperi globally.     

In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Privacy in legal.     

Responsibilities:     

  • Work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders across business, product, engineering,  legal, and compliance teams.   
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the inclusion of appropriate DPAs and NDAs with third parties.   
  • Define project plans, milestones and success criteria, manage implementation activities, and develop processes, documentation and communications for project and process roll outs in support of enterprise-wide cross-functional privacy and compliance initiatives.   
  • Maintain thorough understanding of all the company products and knowledge of who to work with within each business unit, including product teams, HR, and Security.   
  • Guide leadership to balance risk management concerns and risk mitigations with customer experience while developing product roadmaps.   
  • Support compliance and privacy related initiatives, including drafting relevant policies and driving adoption of new policies, requirements, and frameworks.   
  • Support continuous process improvement and simplification efforts, including developing and publishing privacy guidelines, compliance standards, best practices, checklists, and self-service resources.   
  • Develop and deliver privacy trainings for legal team members and business partners.   
  • Organize and coordinate with legal to update privacy policies and other notices as needed   
  • Regularly meet with stakeholders to evaluate proposed new uses of data and determine necessary notices, updates to privacy policy, consent management, etc.   
  • Dive deep into company’s systems to develop a technical understanding of how they work and current privacy controls, and articulate compliance implications to relevant teams.   
  • Work with various product teams across the company on the technical implementation of privacy compliance including data mapping, DPIAs, TIAs and conducting privacy impact assessments of wide-ranging scope and purpose.   
  • Support the Privacy team with any other privacy activities as may be required from time to time.   
  • Follow the developments of global privacy laws, customer expectations, and regulatory guidance to identify and communicate key trends and to protect customer trust.   

What you will bring:     

  • 5+ years of privacy/data protection experience.   
  • Track record of project management and privacy compliance program ownership and driving risk management activities across cross-functional teams and business functions at a large, complex organization.   
  • Strong understanding of global privacy landscape & laws and how this applies in technology, advertising and online businesses.   
  • Experience operationalizing and/or managing privacy requirements.   
  • Knowledge of compliance management standards, tools, methodologies, and best practices.   
  • Technical understanding of how to implement data protection & privacy obligations within a business including data governance.   
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and great attention to detail.   
  • Excellent organizational skills, client-service oriented, and able to handle multiple requests with differing priorities and stakeholders.   
  • Experience with OneTrust and Jira would be advantageous.   
  • CIPM, CIPP, or similar certification is preferred but not required.   
  • Demonstrable drive to build a successful career in data privacy and grow with the company as it continues to expand globally.   
  • Team player with ability to operate independently, react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround, have great judgment in ambiguous situations, and take effective action without having to know the total picture.
