VR Technical Artist & Designer

Description

The Third Floor London is looking for a VR Technical Artist & Designer. They will help design and create ground breaking immersive, interactive real time visualisation, virtual reality and augmented reality experiences. The ideal candidate will come with extensive Unreal Engine experience. They will work closely alongside teams working on game-engine projects for Film, TV, Gaming and VR.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure art assets can be smoothly integrated into game engines while preserving the artistic integrity and performance
  • Work closely with artists and tech team to rapidly prototype real time/interactive experiences
  • Work with artists and technical directors to create, implement, optimise, test and debug all the elements required in engine
  • Work closely with producers and artists to define technical specifications for projects
  • Establish and manage workflows for Game Engine projects
  • Optimisation of game engine projects & assets
  • Provide technical support on game engine projects for a variety of delivery platforms
  • Be able to provide good time estimates of completion of tasks when required and demonstrate an understanding of game assets (through active involvement in continued assessment) to ensure everything is up to date and in working order
  • Keep up to pace with the state-of-the-art in game engines and VR
  • Investigate new technologies and evaluate them for TTF’s workflow

 

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Level Designer, Environment Artist, Lead Artist, Game Artist or Technical Artist in the games industry
  • Strong Unreal Engine 4 experience
  • Strong Experience with Maya
  • Solid understanding of real time rendering, game optimisation and profiling
  • Able to think creatively and resolve technical challenges and limitations
  • Good understanding of animation, pre-visualization and VFX pipelines
  • Worked on AAA titles
  • Knowledge of scripting and programming
  • Possess technical proficiency in game engine shader creation, texturing and lighting
  • Solid understanding of real time rendering, game optimisation and profiling

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Unreal Sequencer
  • Experience in Unity
  • Direct experience using VR/AR devices such Oculus Rift, GearVR, Razer Hydra, Leap Motion etc
  • Knowledge of Blueprint Class customisation
  • Identify and design various UI/ UX needs
  • Experience with Substance Designer/Painter
  • Mastery of more than one technical art domains: shaders, high-quality visual effects, particle systems, advanced lighting systems, etc
