Description

The Third Floor London is looking for a Technical Artist for Game-Engine projects. The ideal candidate will come with extensive Unity (and preferably other game engine e.g. Unreal Engine) experience. They will work with our Technical and Environment teams to support development for utilising the game engine technology within Film, Gaming and VR industries, in addition to working alongside teams on game-engine projects.

Please note: This is a short term position with a possible extension based on performance and work requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up a Unity Project and using Source Control (Perforce)
  • Support the art team with exporting Art Content (Environments, Props, Animations) to Unity
  • Work together with the art team on creating a VR experience in Unity
  • Lighting and Shading the VR scenes in Unity
  • Provide the art team with guidelines for art content creation for Unity
  • Assist the art team and development team with tools and features
  • Work with the art team to make levels efficient
  • Drive the planning and implementation of editor and tools features (desirable)
  • Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production (desirable)
  • Support the development team with level implementation in Unreal (desirable)
  • Document, prototype, and improve the art pipeline (desirable)
  • Supply rigged characters and character export tools to the art department (desirable)

Essential Skills:

  • Inside out knowledge of Unity
  • Excellent C# skills
  • Experience creating functional levels in Unity
  • Experience with Lighting and Shading in Unity
  • Understanding of the PBR workflow
  • Experience with the Unity Timeline editor

Desirable Skills:

  • Excellent Python skills, particularly for Maya
  • Experience producing pipeline tools for Maya and Motion Builder
  • Experience with character rigging for Unity mechanism
  • Experience with the Unity Cinemachine
  • Experience working with Maya or other DCC software
  • Experience with VR, AR development is a big plus
  • Experience with performance profiling in Unity
  • Experience writing tools and UI panels for Unity
  • Experience with VFX in Unity an advantage (Shuriken particle system and full screen effect coding)
  • Proven games industry experience, with a Technical Artist credit on at least one published title
  • Experience with the Substance suite and Substance Automation Tools
  • Shader coding in HLSL / GLSL
