JOB SUMMARY

As a Publishing Investement Buyer, you will be expected to have an understanding of your client’s overall business and marketing needs. You will be responisible for aiding in the development of  tactical, innovative plans that lead to efficient negotiaions acrtoss a variety of clients. You will be required to support the development of  programs across the publishing houses for your clients. You will work closely with the Manager and Directors to help implement their objectives and strategies and execute all media plans. As the Publishing Investment Planner/Buyer you’ll be required to have a working knowledge of the media space and available media research. You’ll participate on new business. You will be required to negotiate all the positioning, title selection and added value for all your clients. Additionally you will help to develop the assistant planners business knowledge.

This position will work with the media sales community, in-house departments, client and creative agencies to develop unique and strategically appropriate media approaches, including the exploration of new and emerging technologies pertinent to our clients' objectives. The successful candidate will contribute to Havas Media’s knowledge base by creating and sharing case studies, POVs and seminar/conference summaries, as well as maintain constant communications with traffic, production and creative departments within our clients' and partners' organizations. All positioning, added value and program development at publishing level will be required at this level central role in creating systems to measure, track and ensure delivery on all buying efforts. You will manage all Ios and budget maintenance. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine title selection and negoitate efficient deals for all clients.
  • Ensure all timelines are met for clients and makes sure they remain on task.
  • Lead the RFP preparation and submission.
  • Partner with Ad Ops to ensure go live readiness.
  • Coordinate with other Havas teams to incorporate a full scale program for clients.
  • Meet and maintain relationships with the sales community.
  • Provide support to Senior buyer.
  • Document all rate and added value detail by vendor.
  • Take lead in overseeing all templating of rates/ publisher happenings.
  • Aids in the creation of client media communication plan objectives and strategies.
  • Develop and maintain an intimate knowledge of client business.
  • Creates and maintains media plans, flowcharts, buying guidelines, testing plans & results analysis, budget summaries, plan delivery and competitive reports plan presentations.
  • Presenting to clients, as appropriate.
  • Writing and developing Point Of Views (POVs) on vendors in both the digital and print space.
  • Developing partnerships with vendors and publishers across all platforms (print, digital, tablet, mobile, social, experiential, content).
  • Monitor media performance to ensure original objectives and strategies are being met.
  • Issuing and updating insertion orders.
  • Trafficking ad tags and creative using 3rd party as server tools (DFA/Mediaplex).
  • Developing and negotiating all positioning, programs and added value with vendors.
  • Maintain accurate budget control and flow of publishing activity, and update client on timely/consistent basis.
  • Analyzing campaign performance and recommend necessary optimizations.
  • Aiding in media invoice and ad service fee discrepancy resolution.
  • Managing and tracking all data from campaigns to ensure proper delivery and compliance with corporate deals.
  • Oversee development of post analysis reports to review media performance (positioning report, circulation shortfall analysis, digital tracking).
  • Working on all new business rate requests and development of programs.
  • Provide input into existing and emerging communications opportunities relevant to assigned brand/category.
  • Manage any client requests – i.e., plan changes, budget changes, provide marketplace information.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • 1-3 years of offline media buying experience & 1+ years of online buying experience, including negotiation at the vendor level.
  • Strong computer skills including media research, planning & buying tools: Clear Decisions, Comscore, DDS, DCM, DoubleClick DFA, Prisma, MediaVisor, i-Desk, and other applications.
  • Must be organized, efficient and have strong attention to detail.
  • Thrives in a fast pace, constantly changing environment; can adapt plans due to changes in client objectives, priorities or budgets while minimizing impact on project momentum.
  • Ability to work with large data sets and proficient knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to articulate and develop clear and concise opinions on the media landscape and relevant vendors.
  • Ability to work autonomously, take ownership of projects, and work in a collaborative fashion with all teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, initiative and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous tasks in a fast-paced technology-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Basic knowledge of 3rd Party AdServing.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Manage junior team members.
