Assistant Controller, Havas Media

Partnering with the VP, Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing Havas Media’s day-to-day accounting function and the overall management of the corporate accounting team. The Assistant Controller will help drive the monthly close process, ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting, maintain all books and records, prepare management and statutory financial reporting across all Havas Media entities, manage audits, and ensure compliance with local and corporate reporting requirements and filings.

Specific Duties:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Help facilitate a timely and accurate month-end close process
  • Preparation/review of month-end monthly financial and reporting packages for five entities
  • Month-end review of P&L to assess reasonableness and accuracy of data
  • Expedite Global reporting package ·
  • Liaise with Corporate Treasury on all cash management matters pertaining to the bank reconciliation
  • Help complete all closes and financial submissions (recognizing that US Holidays are occasionally in conflict with submission deadlines)
  • Prepare and record journal entries, investigate variances, prepare account reconciliations and supplemental schedules
  • Preparation/review of annual tax packages submitted to Havas North America
  • Record Intercompany transactions; responsible for quarterly intercompany reconciliation process
  • Assist with financial audits
  • Assess and document internal controls, streamline our accounting procedures and make recommended changes as necessary
  • Supervise and train a team of 5 staff accountants



  • 8-10 years of accounting experience (public / private mix) with at least four years of management experience
  • CPA optional but preferred
  • Experience with technical accounting principles and implementation
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task and meet financial reporting deadlines
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting from accredited college / university
  • Knowledge of TM1 or DDS a distinct advantage
  • Experience in media or advertising industry a plus
