ROLE OUTLINE

  • Leads the Strategic Communications Planning group for the Havas Media portfolio of clients within Havas Media USA
  • This role is critical to ensuring that plans reaching clients are focused on BUSINESS metrics, then COMMUNCIATIONS metrics, then MEDIA metrics.
  • You own:
    • clear definition of the business situation,
    • communications goals,
    • channel allocation
    • and budget by channel.
  • The role partners with the NA Head of Strategic Planning to help continually upgrade the manner in which we tackle client business by emphasizing business solutions first and how media can help achieve them – in other words it is business minded strategy versus tactical media planning.
  • While the Client Leadership team manages the process and operations, the Strategic Communications Planning team under the leadership of this role, identifies the real business issue, opportunity and way forward.
  • Partners with Client Leadership team to ensure that our Meaningful Connections Process is deployed in an ideal manner to coexist with existing client process and partner agency roles
  • Partners with other Strategic Planning leads across the network to ensure that all Communications Planning efforts are in line with the ideal state and simultaneously looks for new ways to improve our approach.
  • This role oversees excellence across the ICP and the group is responsible keeping the Connection plan ON strategy.
  • Identifies training and development needs for all members of these teams in relation to comms planning processes.
  • Works in significant partnership with Insights and Data Strategy team to bring all kinds of research, insight and data to bear in creation of a compelling strategy for clients to achieve their goals.
  • Takes leading role in new business activity as required and supports junior staff working on new business initiatives.
  • Seeks to identify process improvements in how strategic solutions are delivered to clients and acts collaboratively with other office strategy leads to share skills and knowledge.
  • Acts as a champion, advocate and trainer to ensure that world-class creative ideas are thriving within the Connections plan. This may mean instilling brainstorming skills, innovation tactics or working hands on with Connections Managers, Investment specialists or content experts specifically alongside media partners.
  • Develops ‘Points of View’ based on current client work and key trends surrounding technology, media, and culture that can be shared within agency and with clients
  • Engages in public speaking forums regarding media, strategy, innovation as directed by the marketing department leads locally or globally.

Job Requirements                                                               

  • 15+  years of planning or related media/communications planning experience
  • Previous comms/connections planning experience a must
  • Ability to turn research into insights and craft multi-channel communication strategies and plans
  • Prior agency New Business Pitch experience
  • Experience and comfort in facilitating ideation sessions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative nature and desire to work across diverse disciplines
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Independent, flexible and excels in fast paced environment
