Position Overview:

The Climate Corporation is revolutionizing the agriculture industry with a platform and products that are helping the world’s farmers sustainably increase productivity with digital tools. We are looking for an individual to build production indexing and execution systems to power a portfolio of digital agriculture recommendation and query engines that apply statistical, machine learning, and physical process algorithms to petabyte-scale geospatial, spatiotemporal, and text data. At the intersection between our R&D teams, this is a unique opportunity to leverage Climate’s platform, depth of data, and cutting-edge scientific modeling to deliver an easy-to-use disruptive set of products that make a real-world difference.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead Engineering teams responsible for the development of production global indexing and execution infrastructure able to power the industry-leading integrated digital agriculture recommendation platform and portfolio of products
  • Collaborate and partner with R&D teams to help define, develop, operate, and scale market-leading digital agriculture products
  • Ensure stability of Climate’s product through robust, scalable, fault tolerant, performant, and secure software development practices
  • Act as an active source of engineering talent and work with recruiting teams to build and scale teams across the organization
Basic Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience and demonstrated ability to grow and lead a team of engineers
  • Experience operating production-scale global systems and applications
  • Experience and proven ability to deliver successful, world-class, data-based products from concept to scale-up using Agile / Scrum or similar development/management practices
  • Hands-on experience building and scaling automated recommendation-driven systems, ideally with both statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related scientific field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience building and scaling search and recommendation-driven systems, ideally with at least two of: statistical, machine learning, and physical process algorithms
  • Experience working in partnership with research scientists to productize models and algorithms, including building enabling infrastructure to accelerate time-to-market for research-based products
  • Experience building systems and algorithms for index, query, and/or recommendation on large-scale geospatial and/or spatiotemporal data, on cloud machine learning platforms
  • Highly effective collaboration and consensus building skills, working across cross-functional organizations
  • Experience applying automated testing to verify stochastic systems
  • Development and DevOps experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Knowledge of functional programming
  • Hands-on experience with knowledge of at least one compiled JVM language (e.g. Java, Clojure, Scala)
  • Hands-on experience with at least one distributed computing platform (Hadoop, Spark, Mapreduce, etc.)
