The Discovery Extended Day and Summer Learning Program (EDSL) at The Children’s School (TCS) is a place for children from all backgrounds to play, socialize, learn and grow over the summer break.   
 
TCS seeks experienced Summer Camp Counselors to work the period of June 3, 2024 through July 26, 2024, with the exception of Juneteenth and Independence Day holidays. The Camp Counselor is responsible for the supervision and management of their classroom while supporting Summer Learning goals and outcomes. This role plans and carries out daily activities, evaluates the effectiveness of the program and activities, ensures the safety and physical well-being of the children, follows and creates engaging curriculum, maintains communications with parents, submits up-to-date snapshots of classroom activities, and contributes to the effective operation of the overall child care program. 
 
The Summer Camp Counselor position creates experiences that engage, educate and energize campers. Specifically, this role facilitates learning for groups ages Pre Kindergarten to Rising 5th Graders (3-11 years) years old. The Counselor enthusiastically engages campers by leading them through hands-on projects, games and activities. Works in a team environment, creating a safe and fun experience for children. Builds and maintains a good rapport with campers, parents, and co-workers. Completes assigned responsibilities including set-up, clean-up and program maintenance.  
 
This is a full-time, seasonal position. Hours are 7:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.  
 
Basic Qualifications 
  • An Associate’s degree, preferably in Education, or two (2) years of college equivalency 
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience as a Lead Teacher in a similar classroom environment 
  • Applicable experience working with children 
  • Possess the following characteristics:

Preferred Qualifications 
  • One to two years of college 
  • One (1) year of experience teaching children in a classroom setting 
  • Passion for and experience in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion
