Our age 3 – grade 8 students experience challenging academics embedded in a nurturing environment. Our innovative curriculum uses immersive play- and project-based learning to engage students, connect them to the community around them, and encourage them to make a positive impact on our ever-changing world. 
 
The Children’s School seeks an experienced full-time 2nd Grade Associate Teacher to start July 30th, 2024. 
 
The Associate Teacher at The Children’s School (TCS) supervises and manages the classroom in collaboration with and under the direction of the Lead Teacher while supporting The Children’s School’s goals and outcomes.  
 
Day to day, a Lower School Associate Teacher will: 
  • Motivate, nurture,  and challenge students, 
  • Play a meaningful role in each student’s daily school life, 
  • Co-plan engaging curriculum and contribute to the effective operation of the overall educational program, 
  • Help plan and carry out daily activities and evaluate the effectiveness of those activities, 
  • Assist with evaluating progress, report writing and family conferences, 
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the children, 
  • Communicate, collaborate, and work effectively in teaching partnerships. 

 

The Associate Teacher role is a pathway to a Lead Teacher role. This position provides practical classroom experience, development of knowledge and understanding of teaching, assessment of teaching skills and supportive mentoring and peer networks. 
 
Required on-campus office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and are subject to change. As an exempt position, job responsibilities include planning, meetings, evaluation of student work, team planning, professional development, etc. which may typically extend beyond office hours. 
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications: 
Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Applicable experience working with children through a child development lens 
  • Understands child development 
  • Skilled at establishing meaningful relationships with students as a critical foundation for student engagement and academic achievement

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Three (3) years of experience teaching children in a classroom setting, preferably in elementary grades 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood education 
  • Passion for and experience in the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion
