Job Description

Prepares Sales Financial reports for Customer activity and Daily/Monthly Sales and Margins. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, reconciliations, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization results to management. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. 

The General Accountant position will support multiple sales locations within Taylor Communications.  This person will work closely with Finance team members, location personnel and other corporate departments.  This position requires a detail oriented person with initiative, good judgment, persistence and the ability to learn systems quickly.



  • Monthly closing activities, including journal entry preparation and review
  • Reconciling and reviewing general ledger accounts to verify transactions have been recorded properly
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial reporting package for supported locations
  • Preparation of daily sales reporting
  • Proactively improve processes, accuracy and efficiency
  • Comply with internal controls to protect the assets of the company
  • Provide and participate in cross-training as appropriate
  • Participate in Peer Reviews for general ledger entries and account reconciliations
  • Provide analysis and support for auditors as needed


  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting; advanced degree a plus
  • CPA/CMA preferred
  • 3 – 8 years financial analysis
  • Experience with automated accounting systems (Oracle, SAP, Lawson, BaaN/Infor, PeopleSoft, etc.) and a high proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel required
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP required
  • Ability to work independently and on a team, meet deadlines, identify problems and solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and strong analytical skills, interest in identifying and resolving problems
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills - ability to establish credibility, make decisions, and forge relationship standard Exemption Status
