Taylor Corporation is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to play a key role in analytics development initiatives in our Custom Analytics space. The Analytics department at Taylor is an exciting corporate-sponsored start-up and the Custom Analytics team is responsible for working with internal company stakeholders to build quick-turn analytical solutions, working in conjunction with our Enterprise Development team.


The BI
Developer will touch all stages of our analytics implementation process, including client requirements gathering, upfront analysis, documentation, on-going mentoring, as well as data modeling and report development activities.

 

Essential functions:

  • Participate in requirements gathering process, reviewing functional and data source requirements to identify and limit gaps before reaching the solution design process.
  • Perform functional and technical requirements analysis to design data model, ETL, and reporting solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Working with analytics development team, ensure solution data model design conforms with enterprise data warehouse schema.
  • Clearly and concisely document solution design and update technical documentation for the data model, ETL and developed reporting solutions.
  • Complete programming and required development for analytics solutions, streamlining client interactions and ensuring on-time, on-spec implementations; deploy, maintain and support solutions thereafter.
  • Participate in system integration, user acceptance testing and troubleshooting.

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • 4+ years of industry experience in a report development, data science, business analytics, business intelligence or comparable data engineering role, including enterprise data warehousing and business intelligence tools, techniques and technology
  • Strong relational and dimensional data modeling and database design skills, including star and/or snowflake schema; experienced in ETL development, data analysis, OLAP data model development, mapping, and automated loading
  • Knowledge of SQL to write complex, highly-optimized queries across large volumes of data
  • Experience with reporting, descriptive statistics, probability, and cleaning big datasets
  • Understanding of analytics project and development lifecycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and comfort presenting to everyone from entry-level employees to senior vice presidents
  • BS/BA degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field with courses in mathematics and statistics

 

Additional requirements:

  • Curiosity and passion about data, visualization and solving problems
  • R and/or Python experience for data mining; exposure to predictive analytics, machine learning, process simulation, or optimization techniques, particularly as it relates to sales and marketing preferred
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office product suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization (i.e. operations, finance, marketing, supply chain, etc.) preferred
  • Experience working in an agile development environment preferred
  • Experience working with international development resources preferred
