The Lean Manufacturing Analyst and Safety Specialist role will be a hands-on role in the planning, establishment and implementation of process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean manufacturing principles.  They will also be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.  This role supports multiple sites across the Business Identity Stationery companies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze organizational functions, structures, controls, forms and methods to ensure effective operations through standardization, improvement, simplification, discontinuance or other methods.
  • Organize, lead and facilitate cross-functional teams.
  • Develop metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement programs, training, policies and procedures related to safety requirements and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including testing, reporting, and record-keeping (hearing conservation testing, air quality, lead, etc.).
  • Oversee Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team (ERT) processes and requirements.
  • Investigate causes of accidents or injuries and provide a report of recommendations on solutions that will minimize or prevent recurrence. 
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Partner with Corporate Safety to maintain knowledge of laws and statutes to determine nature of code violation and type of action to be taken.

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in related field preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to implement new systems and procedures in various departments preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures through completion of complex assignments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Previous Lean manufacturing experience and/or Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred
  • Previous safety experience and/or OSHA 30-hour certification a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to support, communicate, train and translate strategy to team level actions
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Must work well independently and in a group
  • Self-motivated, has the ability to understand high level goals and translate into actionable tasks
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
