Full-Time Instructor of Healthcare Administration
Healthcare Administration Department - Sawyer Business School - Suffolk University
The Healthcare Administration Department at Suffolk University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position. We seek applicants who can teach in both our on-campus and online programs. The ideal candidate is an excellent educator who cares about and connects with students and enjoys working in a collaborative and demanding environment.
(1) Teach a total of six courses (18 credit hours) per academic year (five courses—15 credits—in the first year) in our on-campus and online programs, in two or more of the following areas: healthcare operations management, healthcare accounting and financial management, healthcare data analytics, community and population health, healthcare economics and policy, and quality and patient safety.
(2) Develop online courses in one or more of the areas listed above.
(3) Contribute to the activities of the Healthcare Administration Department, including advising and mentoring students, developing and improving academic programs, and maintaining program accreditation.
(4) Contribute to the visibility, impact and reputation of Suffolk University and its Healthcare Administration Programs through professional and/or scholarly engagement.
Our Programs: We currently offer three graduate healthcare administration programs: the on-campus MHA, MBA/Health, and MPA/Community Health Track. In September, we will also offer the MHA Online Program. Located on Beacon Hill in Boston, near some of the most prestigious healthcare and life sciences organizations in the U.S., we provide cutting-edge academic and hands-on learning experiences. We attract both American and international students who seek to develop their careers as leaders and managers in healthcare. Ours is the only MHA program in New England that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
Requirements: This position requires: (1) passion and excellent results in teaching; (2) support for student learning and career development inside and outside the classroom (e.g., through advising); (3) ongoing visibility and impact in the healthcare industry through consulting, policy work, board membership, research, publications, media presence, or other relevant professional activity; and (4) collaboration with faculty colleagues to continue building our degree programs and maintaining accreditation.
Qualifications: Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field and a record of sustained professional engagement and impact in the healthcare field; publications and/or media impact in healthcare are a plus for this position. Because the department is expanding its course offerings by adding hybrid and online courses, an applicant must be willing and able to develop and teach online as well as face-to-face courses; online/hybrid teaching experience is preferred but not required.
How to Apply: An application should be submitted electronically on the following Suffolk University website: http://jobs.jobvite.com/careers/suffolkuniversity/jobs?__jvst=Career+Site
The application should include: (1) a cover letter that provides a brief narrative and highlights of professional experience relevant to this position, including but not limited to teaching, management, consulting, and/or research; (2) a curriculum vitae; and (3) contact information for two professional references. An individual hired into this position who is actively engaged in scholarship may apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position within two years of their hire date, should such a position become open.
