Instructor of Spanish, Non-tenure track - College of Arts and Sciences
The Department of World Languages and Cultural Studies (WLCS) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position in Spanish at the rank of instructor beginning July 1, 2020 (one-year position, renewable based on need). The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in beginning and intermediate Spanish, as well as more advanced courses dealing with translation, Spanish for the professions, and the literature and culture of Spain. Faculty responsibilities for this position include a total teaching load of eight courses per academic year, mostly at the beginning and intermediate level; coordinating Suffolk’s beginning and intermediate Spanish courses to ensure consistency among the various sections; and contributing a modest amount of service to the department and the university through committee membership, student advising, and attending certain departmental events. Preference will be given to candidates who have a PhD in Spanish literature and/or culture, although candidates who have not yet completed the terminal degree will also be considered.
