Disbursing Operations: Check Production Specialist

Join the STG team working for the Department of State at their Global Compensation offices to provide world-class compensation services to their employees and annuitants around the world.

The Office of Global Disbursing Operations requires a Check Production Specialist to provide payment services to U.S Foreign Service, DoS Civil Service and Foreign Service Retirees, Locally Employed, and American payroll services for U.S. Agencies Overseas.

Functional Responsibility:

  • Provide customer support to the employees of DoS while maintaining and monitoring payment cycles
  • Run the daily payment jobstream to include printing, sorting, distributing, and logging payments
  • Prepare mailing envelopes for posts
  • Process vouchers for payment by check and/or EFT
  • Research and resolve payment issues with mailroom, post and/or banks
  • Coordinate special handling requests
  • Process cancellation of EFT payments
  • Explain federal rules and regulations both orally and in writing
  • Research and resolve issues pertaining to non-payment and under/over payments
  • Perform other duties within the Office of International Disbursing as assigned

Software Systems Utilized:

  • RFMS-D (Regional Financial Management System-Disbursing), RFMS-M (Regional Financial Management System-Momentum), GFMS (Global Financial Management System), Microsoft 2007,  Knowledge Base, DIS (Document Imaging System), and various websites of government agencies

Minimum/General Requirements:

  • Must have two year degree (four year degree preferred) including courses in Business Administration, Finance, Management, Accounting or a related field
  • Must have two years of relevant work experience where bookkeeping and accounting procedures are required
  • Knowledge of standardized procedures and techniques used in banking or accounting systems
  • Ability to research topics and make decisions affecting tasks to meet required deadlines
  • Possess strong communication skills via written and verbal processes

*Must achieve an interim secret clearance to begin work
