STG, Inc. is in search of a Sr. Proposal Writer or Proposal Writer responsible for assisting in the delivery of U.S. Government proposals. The ideal candidate will leverage best practices to facilitate, coordinate, and produce high-quality winning proposals. Qualified candidates will bring knowledge of standard government contracts Shipley proposal processes and shepherd the proposal process from start to finish, working effectively with Proposal Managers, Capture Managers, Marketing, Graphic Designers, and Subject Matter Experts. Writers will be required to translate technical concepts into layman terms (for technical and management approaches, staffing, past performance, basis of estimate and resumes) on multiple concurrent proposal efforts. The ability to work both as a team member and independently when necessary in order to meet deadline driven schedules in a fast-paced environment is a must.

Meticulous attention to detail is critical. Willing to be flexible around working hours including some evening and weekend work. Able to manage a diverse workload, balance numerous priorities, and maintain focus on quality. Excellent computer/Internet skills, with exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Excel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop proposal sections and volumes by assembling information from contributors; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, cover letters, etc.
  • Read, edit, and finalize each section of a proposal by following proposal-writing standards. Make changes to bring a consistent tone and readability to sections from different contributors, ensure the content matches the RFP requirements, and includes standard or approved proposal language for legal sections.
  • Create text shells for all sections of proposal, providing standard text where possible for contributors to work with.
  • Ensure proposal is compliant and completed according to the RFP instructions.
  • Identify and clarify the solution and needs through RFP analysis.
  • Prepare final proposal by evaluating text and graphics; coordinate production.
  • Maintain proposal support databases by assisting with proposal library update and maintenance.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, or Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Computer Science, or similar. Senior position contingent upon a minimum of 8 years’ experience.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills using Microsoft Word for desktop publishing, including proper use of Styles and Table of Contents (TOC) creation.
  • Computer literacy in Adobe Suite - including knowledge of InDesign.
  • Ability to complete work within strict deadlines and ensure compliance with all mandated specifications.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders to obtain an in-depth understanding of project and documentation requirements.
  • Willingness to maintain a past submissions library and other artifacts in archives library.
  • Separate and Tag exhibits, graphs, tables, past performance, and other sections of a proposal and upload each to its associated library.
  • Retrieve relevant sections from archives for consideration for a proposal based on Pink Team recommendations, or can create or modify existing graphic to represent an idea.
  • Knowledge of Government Contracting/Federal Market a plus.
