Chief Technical Advisor-Public Sector
Reporting directly to the VP, Global Sales Engineering
We are seeking an exceptional thought leader & technology evangelist to join our team as Chief Technical Advisor-Public Sector. This is a high impact position with responsibilities that include leadingthe thought leadership efforts across the Public Sector vertical markets (Federal, State & Local, Higher Education). As Splunk grows its SasS portfolio with Splunk Developer Cloud the Chief Technical Advisor-Public Sector will also be responsible for providing guidance and direction to the developer & ISV ecosystems.
This leader will closely follow industry trends and align Splunk offerings by regularly evangelizing Splunkto customers, partners & the media. The Chief Technical Advisor-Public Sector will also serve as technical advisor to Public Sector executive leadership within Splunk. This leader will be a key Field resource to communicate our vision to customers, partners and Splunk Field teams. Key to the success of the role will be the ability to bridge the divide between between Splunk technology and Public Sector trends, requirements and mission challenges.
As part of the GTM team, the Chief Technical Advisor-Public Sector will play an instrumental role in expanding our customer base. This individual will play a key role influencing a significant share of revenue for Splunk. Qualified candidates will demonstrate the capability to excel in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate deep knowledge of Splunk & Public Sector market trends, translate Splunkvision into results, become an agent for innovative change, and emphasize a customer service attitude.
Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!
- Must be capable of leading an extended team with various competing tasks and priorities to align technical and field resources (marketing, sales, operations, engineering) toward the development & delivery of a portfolio of thought leadership content
- Engage and influence a varied audience—from C-level to Engineering teams—and extract information that can be used by the Sales team in future engagements.
- Drive customer strategic plans around Splunk and help expand customer deployments & use-cases
- Work with sales and partners for maximum effectiveness
- Player/coach, hands on with the team, understand and demonstrate Splunk technically to all levels of the enterprise
- Good corporate citizen – two-way flow of relevant and timely information; work as a team for the most efficient use and deployment of resources
- Provide regular communication to management regarding important issues impacting sales along with metrics/reporting on team performance.
- Clearly communicate and “translate the message” to customers, external parties & internal sales teams
Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that!
10 years’ experience leading technical teams; ability to grow and scale upward with the company;media experience a plus
Strong executive presence and polish
- Exceptional management and interpersonal skills as well as dynamic and engaging communication and presentation skills; verbal, written and visual
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high growth, rapidly changing environment
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people; challenge and lead people toward their peak performance
- Ability to work independently and remotely from other members on your team and corporate
- Track record of success
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Key measures for success in role:
•Increased adoption & use of the Splunk Developer Platform across Public Sector
•Increased Adoption of new Splunk technologies by Public Sector customers and partners
•Successfully represent Splunk at Public Sector engagement forums, media events and executive briefings
