Join a supportive and collaborative team of writers and editors that is dedicated to creating high quality content for users of Splunk software. Your documentation will help network architects and system administrators use advanced features to deploy and administer Splunk Enterprise software with confidence.

We offer a fast-paced environment in which you will collaborate with engineers, other writers, and editors to produce documentation that helps customers get the most from Splunk software. You’ll create documentation using our custom MediaWiki instance that allows you to continuously update your content with improvements and new features.

To succeed in this role, you are a confident writer of enterprise software documentation with a passion for learning new concepts and clearly explaining complex software technologies. This position offers continuous learning and frequent interaction with enthusiastic customers who use our documentation every day to get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear and accurate documentation that enables customers to deploy, use, and scale Splunk software effectively and efficiently.
  • Work closely with agile development teams and product managers to define documentation requirements and create final deliverables.
  • Discuss technical details and solve problems with engineering, customer support, technical writers, and customers every day.
  • Collaborate with other writers and coordinate the delivery of shared content.
  • Follow an established writing style guide and work with editors to create the best possible documentation for customers.
  • Respond to user feedback and integrate user suggestions to continuously improve your documentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years technical writing experience for an enterprise software company.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Experience documenting complex software systems.
  • BA/BS degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, a related technical discipline, or relevant professional experience.
  • Writing samples that demonstrate significant experience writing for a technical audience.

Other relevant skills

  • Working knowledge of Unix or Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with REST API concepts and functionality.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and clusters.
  • Experience writing for administrator audiences.
