Role:

The Senior Director of Global Events will manage a team responsible for concepting and delivering Splunk’s global events strategy and portfolio. This includes Splunk-led events such as our annual user conference .conf (with over 10,000 attendees), our regional SplunkLive! events, our annual Sales Kick-Off, Executive Engagement programs, as well as sponsorships at large industry, analyst- and partner-led events. Reporting directly to the VP of Corporate Marketing, this leader will have responsibility for building the strategy to ensure the growth of the Splunk events portfolio worldwide. Success will require close partnership across Sales and Marketing leadership to define the appropriate events strategy for driving audience, awareness, and pipeline goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the overall strategy of all event related programs, and continually evolve and innovate to meet the challenges of a high-growth organization.
  • Build and inspire an innovative team of event marketers and program managers.
  • Work closely with event, sales and market group leaders to secure the right mix of events based on business goals and priorities.
  • Guide direction for planning of demand generation activities, events and related program needs in order to drive awareness and pipeline needs.
  • Partner across the marketing function on major programs - Brand & Creative, Corporate Communications, Content Marketing, Digital Marketing, Product Marketing, Marketing Operations, Regional Marketing, and Sales and Field Leadership to enable effective event strategy, execution and impact.
  • Oversight of department budget and responsibility for reporting to ensure that all campaigns are data driven and deliver robust return on investment.
  • Streamline event systems and operations by using technologies and tools to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Represent the Global Events Organization as required across the company, and while working with vendors, partners and customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of event leadership experience at a technology company, preferably in the software industry.
  • 5+ years leading large high performing event teams (10-20+ employees).
  • 15+ years of experience in the development and production of large-scale tech industry events, annual user conferences, and company trade shows.
  • International and domestic experience.
  • Experience developing and driving organizational priorities and initiatives; strong project management skills.
  • Proficiency with marketing automation and CRM systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for reporting and analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience in Exec-level engagement.
  • Creative, innovative, curious, resourceful and results-oriented.
