Role

As a Technical Marketing Manager (TMM) for Splunk’s IoT team you will be the main technical point-person within the IoT Product Marketing team, a scrappy, small start-up market group emerging within Splunk. You will drive and reinforce the technical value proposition of Splunk’s IoT products, apps, and solutions, build supporting sales collateral and tools and present the products to customers as well as at key industry events. You will also be responsible for developing demonstration use cases that deliver a value-based dialogue and showcase the product for appropriate use cases and audiences. The role involves ownership and project management of technical marketing initiatives, such as those above, working closely with other members of marketing, sales, sales engineering, product management and development engineering.

The position is based at Splunk’s headquarters in San Francisco and is a great opportunity if you enjoy working for a fast-growing and dynamic enterprise technology company, and joining an early-stage market group within Splunk. Strong experience in technical marketing or sales engineering within enterprise software is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Sales tools: Developing technical product presentations, whitepapers, product guides, product videos, technical briefs, and other tools to enable sales teams to sell the Splunk for IoT story effectively.
  • Product demonstrations: Designing, delivering, and training the field on value-based demonstration, working in conjunction with Sales Engineering. Creating and maintaining video and demo library for Splunk’s IoT Markets Group.
  • Product positioning: Connecting IoT market and technology trends with Splunk’s technology to build technical product positioning and messages for key use cases.
  • Product evangelism: Evangelizing and demonstrating Splunk IoT products at conferences, tradeshows, to analysts and customers.
  • Industry events: Attending tradeshows and other events to represent Splunk and showcase our technology.
  • Product launches: Participating in product launches to build technical product messaging, pitching Splunk’s technology to analysts and press, developing product collateral and sales tools and general support of the launch plan.
  • Partnerships: Supporting partnership-related TPMM activities.
  • MUST live in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to commute into our San Francisco headquarters.

Required Skills and Background

  • 10+ of professional experience in enterprise software, including 4+ years of experience in technical product marketing, product management, sales engineering, or as a security practitioner/analyst.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience using and installing Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, and Splunk Enterprise Security.
  • A knack for using new software tools—from video screen-capture and editing, to collaboration software and more
  • Ability to identify and solve technical tasks related to infrastructure, networking, and other areas, to improve software demo performance.
  • Passionate about groundbreaking technology, with strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Domain knowledge of Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Energy markets highly preferred - ability to understand said markets challenges and apply IoT technology to generate customer value is of critical importance
  • Experience establishing value and translating this to effective technology-based demonstration use cases.
  • Ability to effectively articulate and showcase technology with flair, and to different types of audience.
  • Self-starter who truly enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative software company.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
