Software Engineer (Java/ Python)

Role Summary
Responsibilities
- Gain a deep understanding of our product architecture, usage patterns, and real-world deployment scenarios to develop solutions that will bring value to our customers.
- Participate in the software development lifecycle by writing code, tests, documentation; supporting the sprint management process; and communicating effectively with peers and managers.
- Enhance the product, keeping scalability and performance considerations as a high priority
- Keep product quality top of mind by extensively using Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD), automated testing technologies and software development best practices to ensure that the product is of high quality while continuously deployed in the cloud to our customers
- Collaborate closely with Product Management and members of our team to design and create comprehensive end-to-end user workflows
- Become well-versed in Splunk's core technologies as they apply to application development
Experience and qualifications
- 4+ years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency with one of these languages: Java, Python.
- Proven experience building web applications, services, and APIs, preferably focused on cloud application development (with cloud providers like AWS/GCP)
- Good understanding of databases both relational and non-relational
- Exposure to working with container ecosystems (Docker, Kubernetes, Kubernetes Operator Framework)
- Familiarity with an Agile DevOps engineering environment that effectively uses CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, Github actions, etc.)
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and to understand a wide variety of technical challenges to be solved
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to prepare documentation and presentations.
- Background in developing products for the Security market a plus

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
