Role Summary
Splunk is looking for an experienced Scrum Master to lead and facilitate agile practices within our team, ensuring that Scrum is implemented and adhered to with consistency and effectiveness. As the Scrum Master, you will help foster an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high-quality delivery. You will be a key player in guiding the team through the Scrum process, removing obstacles, and empowering individuals to take ownership of their work. You will act as both a coach and advocate for the team, helping them continuously grow and deliver value while keeping the organization aligned with Scrum best practices.
What you’ll get to do
  • Guide and facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
  • Coach the team in Scrum principles and practices, fostering a collaborative and self-organizing environment.
  • Provide support to the Product Owner with backlog refinement, ensuring that goals, priorities, and deliverables are clear and aligned.
  • Serve as the bridge between the Product Owner and the team, ensuring that communication is clear, expectations are aligned, and the backlog is properly refined and prioritized.
  • Help the Product Owner clarify the deliverables for each sprint and coach them in effective backlog management and communication with the team.
  • Ensure the team has the right tools and techniques to track progress, including Jira/Workfront, sprint backlogs, and burndown charts.
  • Ensure the team stays focused on the sprint goal and the overall product goal, managing distractions and helping prioritize the highest-value work.
  • Protect the team from unnecessary disruptions and external pressures, and help them maintain a sustainable pace of work.
  • Proactively identify and address impediments that are slowing down the team's progress. Where possible, empower the team to resolve their own challenges. If an obstacle is outside the team's control, escalate as needed.
  • Coach the team to focus on their goals, maintain a single-point focus, and collaborate effectively to deliver high-priority work each sprint.
  • Encourage cross-functional collaboration and reduce dependencies, helping the team to work together toward shared goals, not individual tasks.
  • Champion Scrum and Agile principles across the organization, acting as the go-to expert and advocate for Scrum practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement through regular learning and knowledge sharing for both the team and yourself.
  • Help stakeholders, including product, engineering, design, and functional managers, understand Scrum and improve how they interact with the team.
Must-have Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master, with a deep understanding of Scrum practices and Agile methodologies.
  • Certification as a Scrum Master (CSM or PSM)
  • BA or BS, plus 5-7 years experience in the enterprise software industry as a Scrum Master
  • Excellent understanding and previous application of Agile/Scrum Fundamentals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coach and mentor individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating cross-functional teams, managing conflicts, and ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Proficient with Scrum tools such as Jira, Workfront, or similar.
  • A passion for Scrum, Agile, and continuous improvement both for yourself and for the team.
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of scaled Agile frameworks is a plus.
  • Technical understanding of the team’s work and processes is helpful, but not required.

Base Pay Ranges
For sales & marketing roles the ranges are expressed as On Target Earning or OTE (OTE = base + incentives in the form of sales incentive plans).
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
On Target Earnings: $146,400 - $201,300 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), New York (excludes NYC Metro Area), and all other states.
On Target Earnings: $ 131,760 - $181,170 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
On Target Earnings: $ 117,120 - $161,040 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the On Target Earnings (OTE) range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the OTE pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to OTE, this role may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

Base Pay Range: $146,400.00 - 201,300.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $131,760.00 - 181,170.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $117,120.00 - 161,040.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate.
