Senior Software Engineer, Observability Platform
Description
- Follow the best software development practices and hold the high engineering bar for the team by regularly leading design, code review and test plan reviews.
- Incorporate excellence in reliability, scalability, and performance in the design of distributed systems
- Lead or own the design of new systems and drive the implementations.
- Identify and drive the burndown of technical debt
- Identify improvement opportunities in areas of engineering excellence and operation excellence, and make them a reality
- Participate in on-call rotations, post-incident reviews, and other operational duties to ensure service delivery quality
- Debug and provide solutions or fixes to customer-reported issues or requirements.
- Helps team estimate work across sprints and quarters
- Contribute to grow junior engineers through design & code review, tech talks, mentoring, and pair-programming.
- 5+ years of related experience with a technical bachelor’s degree; or equivalent practical experience; or 3 years and a technical Master’s degree; or equivalent practical experience.
- You are passionate about building, observing, and operating distributed systems at scale in production.
- You have a solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in operating systems, networks, data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design
- Experience developing, debugging, and performance tuning highly concurrent systems
- Ability to lead complicated technical decisions and mentor other junior engineers
- Solid knowledge and production programming experience in at least one of Java/C#/Go
- Experience with test-driven development, developing different levels of automated tests, such as unit test, functional test, integration test, system test, or performance / load test
- Prior experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and GCP
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Proficiency with "Big Data" technologies such as Apache Druid, Presto/Trino, Apache Spark, or Apache Iceberg is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with other scalable data solutions like ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, Clickhouse, Redshift, or Snowflake is a strong plus.

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $174,800.00 - 240,350.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $157,320.00 - 216,315.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $139,840.00 - 192,280.00 per year
