Role Summary
What you'll get to do
- Build and drive a research portfolio for the Security product team, including generating demand for research upstream in the product development cycle.
- Drive adoption of customer/user insights within a cross-functional team.
- Foster and grow user research and a data-driven product experience culture.
- Identify, prioritize, design, and conduct user research, and communicate insights to partners and team members with recommendations for product direction and strategy.
- Continuously orchestrate the implementation of insights with different levels of partners from PMs to GMs
- Analyze existing data, existing designs, and industry research and conduct stakeholder research to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research.
- Build innovative and actionable results and communication strategies in the form of engaging reports, jobs-to-be-done frameworks, journey maps, or other materials as needed.
- Build new processes to improve research, Partner with Research, Design, and Research and Design Operations to enable PM and design to conduct usability testing.
- Advance the Research and Insights practice.
Must-have Qualifications
- 8+ years’ experience with a Bachelor's degree in the field of HCI, Human Factors, Usability Engineering or a related field or equivalent applied experience.
- Demonstrable experience in improving product quality, direction, and strategy with measurable results.
- Extensive experience identifying research needs, and redefining ambiguous partner problems.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and ability to create high-impact presentations.
- Demonstrated success with effective interpersonal, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to scale customer-centric behaviors in partner organizations.
- Demonstrated success scaling best research practices.
- Required: experience recruiting customers and doing research with Cybersecurity Professionals who work in a Security Operations Center (SOC), and who use Enterprise Security Products such as SIEM, SOAR, & XDR.
- Desired: demonstrated success conducting research for a Jobs-to-Be-Done Framework, creating the framework, and enabling partners with education and adoption.

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $159,200.00 - 218,900.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $143,280.00 - 197,010.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $127,360.00 - 175,120.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
