The role

We’re seeking out Front-End Software Engineers that are excited about who we are and are excited about using technology to help make our members financial lives better.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, product-minded, and pragmatic, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the quality of both the code and finished product. At SoFi, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Product, Design and Engineering, and you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying, and continual improvement and evolution.  We also pride ourselves on a philosophy of continuous learning, and you should likewise be committed to furthering your own career growth as well as to providing mentorship for your fellow team members. 

What you’ll do:

  • Use React/JS (ES6), HTML, CSS to turn designs into performant and maintainable interfaces

  • Develop testable and accessible web applications

  • Help translate product requirements into user stories and technical solutions within a continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment

  • Work with designers to identify and solve potential implementation issues

  • Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software developers

  • Collaborate on our internal React UI component library

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from many different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience

  • 2+ years related experience or demonstrated equivalent

  • Our front-end stack is: React, Redux, styled-components

  • Experience with modern front-end libraries and tooling (npm, webpack)

  • Familiarity with responsive design/development and mobile-web best practices

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done

  • Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion

  • Affinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architecture, preferably using agile development methodology 

  • Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with Redux

  • Experience with React hooks and context

  • Experience working on large-scale applications

  • Experience building backend API’s (we primarily use Java)

  • Experience working with Typescript or other statically-typed languages

  • Experience creating customer facing emails and other communications
