The Role

SoFi’s Risk Management team has responsibility for ensuring growth in lending and other member related activities are consistent with the company’s risk appetite.  The team holistically manages enterprise, credit, deposit products, fraud prevention, portfolio management, infrastructure, and business operating risks. In addition, Risk Management directly manages enterprise partners, ensures strong compliance with regulations, acts as a multi-layered second line of defense in oversight of business operations, and works to ensure risk policies enable a member-first experience. 

Senior Analyst, Risk Management – Credit Card will have responsibility for partnering with the Business Unit, Capital Markets, Finance, Operations, Legal and Compliance teams to analyze, develop, and propose value added risk strategies across our Credit Card portfolios – including SoFi proprietary and branded card products.

Analysts will lend their expertise supporting:

  • Originations Risk – Building of auto-decision and line assignment strategy

  • Authorizations Strategy – Real time channel, card, risk based authorizations

  • Portfolio Management – Grow member relationships with retention, line management

This role reports to the Sr. Director, Risk Management – Credit Card.

What You'll Do:

  • Innovate… we need you to bring your brightest ideas to building credit card origination strategies from the ground up!  This means you will play a role in architecting pre-screen, post-screen, ITA/Invitation to Apply, member advance eligibility (PriorityPath), open apply, and partner channel strategies.  You will help build line assignment, authorization strategies, and credit policy construction – including building offer optimization, multi-product underwriting to drive positive risk selection.

  • Data Driven… Your deep analysis will power the future of lending with an optimal real-time data ecosystem – including multi-product internal, transactional, bureau, third-party, and alternative data sources and uses.  Work collaboratively with Data Science team to design models that address Early Default, Credit Risk or Bankruptcy Risk.

  • Challenge Status Quo… Test. Try. Challenge. Pivot. Learn, Iterate.  Leverage data learnings to propose credit risk experimentations for the credit card portfolio across different product dimensions, channels, and credit segments.

  • Build the Future… Participate in the development of new targeting, originations, and authorization scorecards and portfolio management strategies.  Understand broad/full spectrum of credit risk and develop micro-segmentation approaches to mitigate default and balances at risk within Super Prime, Prime, Near Prime, and Emerging segments.

  • Control the Risk… Execute controls as part of a risk-based annual Risk Control Assessment (RCA) testing plan evaluating policy, process, and infrastructure controls; including, documenting and communication results, and escalating issues as necessary.

  • Drive Performance Outcomes… What works?  What does not work?  Use continuous learning to optimize credit performance/outcomes associated with each vintage of business ensuring appropriate instrumentation, performance metric monitoring, and development of corrective action plans with portfolio management / collections strategy team.

  • Be a Risk SME… Serve as a subject matter expert for an aspect of the credit card business – including originations strategy, portfolio management, or authorizations.

What You'll Need:

  • 3-6 years of relevant risk management, risk analytics, consumer lending, and/or credit card strategy work experience.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree in an analytical discipline

  • Preferred: Analytical risk role at a Top 10 card issuer in the U.S.
