Senior Copywriter – Web (Temp)

SoFi is looking for a freelance Senior Copywriter - Web (temp) to join our Marketing team. You’re a self-starter, team player, and looking to add value to our brand story. As we continue to build out our in-house creative team, you will help develop web copy for our expanding products, partnerships and everything in between.

By joining SoFi, you're joining a new kind of finance company based around speed, transparency, and alignment with our members’ interests. Our goal is to be the center of our members’ financial lives. We created student loan refinancing, addressing the biggest financial challenge this new generation has through a new approach to lending. We expanded into other types of loans, and then into insurance and wealth management with similarly inventive products. As the company has grown, we’ve been able to help more people with these tools.


  • Write clear, concise, and conversational copy for web.
  • Collaborate closely with the design team to come up with creative solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders and reviewers to keep the brand voice consistent.
  • Find new ways to tell our brand story—generating ideas for how branded content can come to life across multiple channels.
  • Lead the charge on creating new forms of content to support the blog, resource center, and website—quizzes, guides, infographics, animations, video, and more.
  • Edit and proofread all content supplied by partners and guest contributors for voice and tone.
  • Work with stakeholders and reviewers to keep the brand voice consistent.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience

  • Your writing is witty, punchy, and not afraid to push industry boundaries.
  • You know what makes a great headline and have a knack for both OOH and digital.
  • You can adjust SoFi's brand voice and tone based on medium and audience.
  • Experience ideating for integrated campaigns and new product launches.
  • You’re collaborative. You have experience (and love) partnering with a designer or art director.
  • You’re a fast learner and can hit the ground quickly.
  • You’re all about the data. You love testing copy and iterating based on results.
  • You take initiative, keep organized, and can handle multiple projects at once.
  • You’re strategically minded, with strong problem-solving skills and close attention to detail.
  • You’re enthusiastic about your work and about joining a close-knit team.
  • You have excellent writing and editing skills. (Obviously.)
  • Knowledge of financial services or personal finance a plus.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years writing copy for a brand in an in-house creative department.
  • Bachelor’s degree with English/Advertising/Journalism focus.
