The role

We are looking for an Associate, Consumer Communications to join our PR team at SoFi. This position will be responsible for working with our Manager, Consumer Communications to highlight SoFi’s products, initiatives and member stories/events in consumer media.

The Associate, Consumer Communications will be responsible for helping design the strategy for consumer communications, drafting press materials, building media lists, assisting with daily media monitoring and working with cross-functional teams within SoFi to ensure our work is driving business outcomes.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to a world-class PR practice at SoFi, working with both in-house colleagues and external agencies

  • Activate creative consumer campaign and event concepts that map to business objectives, while generating media coverage and driving consumer usage

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with consumer reporters; proactively pitch story ideas to journalists and follow up with editorial opportunities 

  • Write, edit, and proofread materials including press releases, pitches, fact sheets, media lists, etc.

  • Execute outreach programs that deliver positive coverage and improved influencer perceptions

  • Keep the team up to date on industry/audience trends and news

  • Occasional administrative tasks 

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree; 2-3 years of relevant work experience (having agency experience a plus)

  • Track record of working on super-creative campaign and story ideas with demonstrated results

  • Ability to work in tandem with fellow teammates in San Francisco 

  • Proven communicator with excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Attention to detail, while being able to rise above to see the bigger picture

  • Proactive and a team player 

Nice to have:

  • Strong existing consumer press relationships a plus

  • Knowledge of financial services / personal finance a plus
