Description

Smithbucklin, a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, is looking for a Manager of Membership Development for our Trade Association unit in Washington, DC.         
The Manager of Membership Development will have ownership of the analysis, strategy, planning, management, and execution of membership prospecting, recruitment, orientation, involvement and retention efforts of the client association.  Reporting to the Executive Director, you will identify opportunities to drive operational best practices for membership development and chapter relations.       
Role/Responsibilities:

  • Leads membership prospecting, recruitment and retention efforts
  • Working with the Executive Director, develops and maintains for relevancy, the membership value proposition
  • Develops and manages new member orientation programs
  • Develops and manages programs and services for chapters
  • Manages the annual dues payment process and reporting
  • Manages membership and chapter on content on the client website and provides content updates
  • Manages the membership database, directory communications, and contact lists
  • Assists the Executive Director with the presentation of membership strategy and progress with the client Board of the Directors
  • Manages annual donations received through the association foundation
Qualifications:
 
Required
  • Bachelors degree from a four year accredited college/university
  • 3-5 years experience with membership development in non-profit management or related industry
  • PC experience with Windows operating system and a variety of software programs                         
  • Strong focus on customer service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in time management and organizational skills
