Description

The Lease Records Analyst is responsible for overseeing and performing analysis of leases, contracts, title opinions, newly acquired acreage, acquisition and divestitures, and other legal documentation to determine company ownership and obligations in leases, contracts and wells.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze various forms, including complex title, lease and contract documentation to summarize company ownership and obligations
  • Assist with due diligence for company acquisitions and divestitures
  • Create and generate detailed and complex analysis of leases and contracts
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of extensions, rentals, shut-in payments and minimum royalties
  • Resolve administrative and technical issues
  • Communicate and document requests and issues with lease, contracts or other legal documents
  • Review leases, understand and determine shut-in, minimum royalty, extension payments, pugh clauses, and continuous development clauses
  • Set up new leases and contracts in Land system, proof work and approve all agreements being created in order to ensure accuracy and data integrity
  • Make and oversee ownership changes and clean-up of lease records
  • Perform general lease records maintenance in land system, ensure accurate and thorough documentation
  • Perform special projects and act as Project Manager on smaller projects as assigned to support Lease Records Department and Company goals

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrate proficient experience and knowledge of complex lease and contracts terms and provisions.   Proficient understanding of land administration principles including analysis of different agreement forms and maintenance. Ability calculate and maintain participation on leases. Proficient understanding of title issues affecting the oil & gas lease.  Experience with Quorum and QQM preferred. Experienced in acquisition/divestiture process. General understanding of geological principles, operations, reservoir engineering and basin/resource plays.

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Petroleum Management or Business Preferred
