When it comes to the day-to-day functions of the Creative Department, there is perhaps no role more important than that of the Traffic Resource Manager. As the Traffic Resource Manager of Skip’s Creative Studio, you are the guardian of the Creatives. You manage their workloads and protect them from the unpredictable tendencies that sometimes befall creative departments (i.e. revisions, budget changes, last-minute briefs).
With the guidance and approval of the Creative Director, you distribute each and every project no matter how big or small or which stakeholder in the company it comes from. This not only protects the Creatives from being overloaded and the department from being understaffed (for example, when several employees want to take long weekend vacations), it gives external stakeholders a single, consistent avenue through which to brief the department.
With these things in mind, it almost goes without saying that you are highly proactive, incredibly organized, and extremely proficient with project management skills. And you can ensure accountability from both Creatives and various company stakeholders. You also have a creative eye. You understand all the various creative work the department does; you know what each Creative’s role is and what their strengths and weaknesses are. And most importantly, you truly understand the time it takes for each kind of project to be completed, from brief to conceptualization to presentation to production.
Last, but not least, as the Traffic Resource Manager you understand and share the Creative Director’s vision, goals, and plans and will help bring them to fruition.
