Basic Purpose:

Working closely with the Detroit Office management teams, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for delivering HR expertise and problem-solving while administering corporate policies and procedures as they relate to core HR services, processes, and programs. The Human Resources Manager is expected to assess and anticipate HR related issues and communicate needs proactively inside the department and with members of the management team.

 

Basic Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Business Partner by providing counsel and advice to the management teams on work related issues to ensure labor effectiveness and ensure fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Supervises, coordinates and directs the Human Resources Department to ensure that a high level of customer service is provided.
  • Oversees and ensures compliance with Federal and State laws such as OSHA, EEOC, Workers Comp, Unemployment, FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Recommends, develops, and oversees company and associate activities including Wellness activities. Recommends new associate relations programs to promote a positive work environment and enhance associate morale. Promotes SEWS as a good community neighbor.
  • In cooperation with Corporate General Affairs & Human Resources, administers corporate wide programs including compensation, benefits, CIA suggestion program, performance management and succession planning.
  • Works in coordination with the DET Site Administration Department on building safety operations.
  • Leads assigned Human Resources Department projects.
  • Oversees payroll processing/recordkeeping. Backup to the payroll professional for the location.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • 8-10 years progressive experience, including experience in a management capacity.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel 5-10%.
  • Knowledge of ADP Vantage, Kronos, and Microsoft Office.
  • SPHR or PHR Certification preferred.
