POSITION TITLE: Quality Engineer IISHIFT: 1st.
SECTION OR DEPARTMENT: Electronics Division, Quality Department
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
LOCATION: Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. Edmonton, KY
BASIC POSITION DUTIES:
- Monitors, reviews and confirms daily quality performance of assigned Production Lines.
- Tracks in-process defects of assigned lines and identifies improvement activities to reduce and/or eliminate target defects.
- Investigate Quality problems / concerns of the OEM assigned.
- Analyze and investigate root cause Quality issues of the assigned OEM.
- Assist in developing robust countermeasures for in-house and OEM Quality issues by Leading root cause analysis using tools such as 5 why, fishbone, DOE, & SPC.
- Compile analysis report, report to OEM and track status to closure.
- Assist in establishing and developing manufacturing operation procedures, equipment procedures, Daily check items, and other documentation of procedures for assembly processes.
- Report on OEM Quality issues to management
- Creates, maintains, and improves PFMEA, Process Quality Control Plan, and all associated documents.
- Supports and communications with all departments to identify potential quality concerns and improvement activities.
- Support APQP/PPAP activities.
- Perform process capability studies.
- Analyze defects related to soldering, SMT processes, components, ESD & functional testing.
- Support validation testing and failure analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework & warranty risks.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Quality Engineering Technologist – HS, GED, or technical certificate plus 3-5 years’ experience.
- Quality Engineer - Engineering Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Electronics manufacturing and demonstrated applicable engineering skills.
- Good Communication and Computer Skills.
- Experience may be substitution for degree.
- Experience in Microsoft office computer programs.
- Travel as needed, including potentially international.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Works with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments daily.
- Reports to Manager of Quality.
- Work with other Quality Team members in team activity to support projects.
