We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer for our San Marcos, California office. Must be trustworthy with company sensitive information, detail oriented, and a self-starter and have the ability to work under strict deadlines with varied conflicting priorities. This individual must practice high standards of professional ethics and personal integrity in the best interest of the company. This person reports to the QA Manager.   

We are located in San Marcos, CA, and are looking only for local candidates, to perform work on site. Relocation not offered.   

Job Summary   

Works with engineering, manufacturing, product management and sales functions in providing professional quality guidance to assess, correct, and maintain the product and process quality using statistical tools, documented methods, and audits. Provides technical advice to leadership team on quality, reliability, safety and performance issues encountered during product life cycle.   

    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities   

Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):   

  • Develops and implements methods for sampling, inspection, testing and evaluation of products.
  • Develops and implements statistical methods and design experiments to support process control, process/product improvement.
  • Initiates process improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce costs, simplify processes and improve quality.
  • Supports process and test method validation activities by developing and executing protocols for new or existing processes.
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors to provide technical support for our products and assures quality of incoming materials.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of nonconforming material and ensures that effective root cause analysis is conducted; tracks implementation of corrective/preventative actions.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Manages program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurements and analytical equipment, and facilities.
  • Assists in directing inspectors engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Develops and writes internal specifications, work instructions, supplier part specifications, and internal test methods.
  • May be trained as an internal auditor and perform quality audits.
  • Support the PPAP submission process including obtaining supporting process and product data to support the internal and customer submission and approval process.
  • Participate in the MRB activities during process development of product and productions.
  • Establishes and/or improves product/process quality individually and through team-based problem-solving efforts using industry Best Practices tools.
  • Support the maintenance of FMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow diagrams.

    

 Minimum Qualifications and Requirements    

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in related field
  • 1-3 years of related experience.

Preferences    

    

  • Experience working in an ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100 or similar environment.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with internal auditing.
  • Experience with APQP, including PPAP process.

    

    

Special Position Requirements    

    

  • This job operates in a office and manufacturing environment.  Most office environments are climate controlled while the manufacturing environment is not.
  • Some office environment has mechanical and chemical hazards; training is provided to minimize risk.

  • This position may travel including out of country travel.

    

    

Physical Requirements   

    

  • This position may require long times sitting and/or standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. individually and up to 50 lbs. assisted.
  • May have to use tools such as step stools, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Required to wear PPE in designated areas.
