Day Shift

The registered professional nurse coordinates, plans, directs and implements the nursing process in the delivery of patient care

Begin:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Seeking/acquiring sufficient information necessary to function effectively in the assigned health setting
  • Maintain and remains current in nursing skills/clinical practice through attendance of continuing education programs and in-service classes
  • Assist in assessment of patient needs; then plans, implements, documents and evaluates nursing care of each assigned patient
  • Aids in the continuity of care by charting and reporting accurately on all assigned patients
  • Assist patients family in coping with the patients illness
  • Notifies Home Health agency and the physician of acute changes in the patient’s condition
  • Maintains positive working relationship with physicians and fellow employees - recognizes personal limitations and seeks guidance
  • Acts as a role model and mentor for new staff
  • Duties require interaction with different patient age groups, i.e., neonate, child, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, and requires recognition that different age groups require specialized attention or care
  • Observes, documents, and reports patients physical, mental, and emotional status to physician, or other staff as appropriate; monitors and records vital signs and reports abnormal to physician
  • Administers medications and nursing interventions as ordered
  • Prepares equipment and supplies for examinations, treatments, dressing changes, etc
  • Teaches and communicates with families, physicians, physician offices, other health care agencies or departments in the hospital to insure continuum of care
  • Must routinely be visible and engaged in the day to day functioning of the department
  • Support the strategic plan for nursing and the organization
  • Passion for quality, patient safety and satisfaction
  • Patient advocate
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Become:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse by the Missouri State Board of Nursing
  • Two years or more prior professional nursing experience preferred
  • BCLS required
  • Communication and an attitude of responsiveness is absolutely key to all positions in the per-operative area
