We assist all studios with publishing QA and validation functions. We support the needs of the development studios and make the creative vision become a reality.

Positions Overview

SEGA Sofia’s team is looking for bright and motivated people to join us as Functionality Testers or US English first-language, mother tongue speakers to join us as Localization QA Testers. These positions are an excellent opportunity for people wanting to start a career in an industry that is fast-paced, dynamic and above all fun!

Getting the chance to work on different titles before launch, you’ll be responsible for testing the game to ensure it plays as the developers intended it to and that it is free from any bugs and is well balanced, along with testing the text strings in-game and voice over to ensure localization Japanese to English has been properly implemented – grammar, spelling, pronunciation, etc.
 

Temporary contract for 6 up to 12 months. 40 hours per week.

Please note that we are unable to offer visa assistance and all applicants must have full eligibility to work in Bulgaria to be considered for this opportunity.

We employ a hybrid working model with at least 3 days in office, predefined according to the project needs.



General QA Responsibilities:
  • Follow a test script (test cases) in a thorough and consistent manner. 
  • Write and use test scripts (manual test cases) 
  • Find bugs and identify the severity and risk to the business. 
  • Execute exploratory and destructive testing. 
  • Enter professional, clear, accurate and complete bug descriptions. 
  • Follow instructions accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Honestly and effectively communicate important issues and actively work with colleagues when needed. 
  • Assist with coordination of group-based testing. 
Localization Tester Responsibilities: 
  • Provide confidence in the localization process by reviewing the quality of the translation prior to implementation in the games but also on the LOC files during the testing process. 
  • Review edits from localization vendors for format, correctness, and naming conventions. 
  • Act when quality does not meet requirements and feedback to LQA Manager to resolve concerns promptly. 
  • Regularly test play the build with “confidence” cycles across all products, and milestone checks, to ensure the quality of the product and progress is in line with requirements and timelines. Feedback and escalate to Management in case of any issues. 
  • Game testing as and when required by the project/business, for instance, executing test cases and supporting GaaS testing according to volume. 
  • Regularly review terminology within the build to reduce the risk of quality issues identified too late in the process / assess the quality of vendor testing. 
  • Liaise with Compliance QA to create and maintain Localization Compliance QA Checklists to mitigate the risk of must-fix issues in the submission code. 
  • Formally sign off the code before submission or release by performing confidence cycles and ensuring that the build meets all the submission and release criteria. 
  • Create and maintain language-specific documentation for dev and wider business reference, including game glossaries and any related assets. 
  • Provide marketing assets review and editing as required. 
  • Provide any language-related support for the contracted language to the wider business. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Experienced games player able to familiarize with game-play elements rapidly. 
  • Experience playing different genres of videogames. 
  • It is strongly recommended to have various game platforms experience (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, mobile, etc.) 
  • High work proficiency in English, both spoken and written. You’ll be required to communicate in English with your peers across the world. For Localization QA English mother tongue preferrable, other English speakers as mother tongue, first-language will be considered. 
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the role and the company. 
  • A keen eye for details and critical thinking. 
  • Working experience with bug databases systems (Jira for example) would be nice to have. 
  • High standards of work and willingness to meet and exceed expectations. 
  • Adaptability and willingness to improve processes and own development. 
  • Proactively help and assist colleagues and maintain a 'can-do' attitude when under pressure. 
  • Clear and concise communicator both written and verbally. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Ability to work unsupervised and maintain focus and commitment. 
  • Maintain an adaptable approach to testing.
