responsibilities:

Life-Critical Engineering

In coordination with Mativ’s operations and engineering teams:

  • Design and assure practical application of machine guarding and safeguarding controls that comply with applicable standards (e.g., ANSI B11.0).
  • Lead and apply safety risk assessment methods and events. A demonstrated track record of using JSAs and other risk tools to systematically drive workplace safety improvements is a plus.
  • Lead and train incident management, incident analysis and root cause analysis (RCA) techniques.
  • Assist in the review of, capital engineering projects that improve safety, equipment reliability and operability. Project management knowledge will leverage applicable ANSI, NFPA and ISO standards for safe engineered design of machinery, equipment, processes, and components.

Life Critical Procedures

Ensure effective hazardous energy controls through development and management of:

  • LOTO procedures and permit systems. Experience with the Brady Link360® system is a plus.
  • Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP), arc flash training and requirements, NFPA 70E requirements applied in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Safe Work Permit Systems.
  • Elevated Work Platforms and working at heights.
  • Powered Industrial Truck safety training and requirements.
  • Coordinating and responding effectively to FM Global recommendations.
  • Chair of Safety Committee.
  • Risk management analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of Velocity and, or other EHS software.

 Manufacturing Process Continuous Improvement (CI)

Coach and guide front-line leaders on:

  • Lean Continuous Improvement processes, and how to effectively integrate Lean principles into operational planning and management processes.
  • Value Stream Analysis (VSAs) to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Deployment of 5S and visual factory tools.
  • Process variability analysis and systematic, data-driven process controls,
  • Basic CI principles, including Leader Standard Work, problem analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, etc.), problem solving tools (A3, team learning events and team chartering, DoE, etc.).
  • Empowering and engaging employees in problem-solving.

Human and Organizational Performance (HOP)

Build organizational capacity and system resiliency by:

  • Developing training strategies, implementation plans, content and delivery (in-person, web-based and site-specific)
  • Becoming a subject matter expert and training front-line leaders on their role in safety and operations leadership, including Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) concepts,
  • Deploying the infrastructure and competencies to effectively use EHS information management systems and digital platforms,
    • Applying adult learning theory, safety science and adaptive, experiential techniques to deliver effective and impactful training.

 qualifications:

  • Extensive demonstrable experience in leading process safety, process control, employee safety and Lean / CI in industrial manufacturing environments.   
  • 5+ years of managing safety in industrial manufacturing environments and managing in a multi-site role is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications or certificates are a plus (CIH, CHMM, CSP, ASP).
  • OSHA training with Certifications
  • Train the Trainer certification
