ROLE PURPOSE:

The Construction Manager is responsible for the delivery of the Construction/Completion scope of work in compliance with the project HSSE, Quality and schedule requirements as defined in the construction execution plan. You provide the necessary Construction expertise to support the Project Construction Manager to make key strategic decisions.

ROLE CONTRIBUTION:

  1. In order to create a safe work environment on Site, you are to provide the leadership to ensure that the HSSE plan is understood and implemented by all Site project personnel assigned to your role

 

The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:

Group and Project HSSE targets are met

 

  1. In order to meet Group/Project Quality requirements, you are to:
    • Provide the leadership to ensure that the Quality Plan is understood and implemented by all Site Construction personnel to your role
    • Lead the site Quality verification team for your own scope

       The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:

Group and Project targets are met

No violation of the Group Quality Golden Rules

  1. In order that the site construction team are able to successfully manage the delivery of the construction phase, you are to:
    • Ensure execution is compliant with the project yard contract
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders for the mobilization of the resources assigned to his role
    • Escalate construction/completions issues to Project Management team when deemed necessary

 

The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:

Achievement of project construction milestones, safety and quality objectives

 

 4.    In order that the Project Manager is able to make well-informed strategic decisions, you are to:

  • Ensure reporting concerning construction/completions activities relevant to his scope of work is accurate and timely submitted to the Project Delivery Manager
  • Ensure engineering and procurement changes are reviewed and assessed by the relevant Construction disciplines and advise the Project Delivery Manager
  • Support the Project Delivery Manager during all Commercial meetings with the yard 

      The measure of your effectiveness in this will be:

The successful resolution of construction/completions schedule risks

Accurate reporting of the level of completion

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong character and leadership skills are necessary to gain respect of work force by example.
  • Personnel management, Contract management, Proposal Writing, Reporting, Planning, and strong negotiation and bargaining skills are essential. Petrochemical/Offshore or Shipping background preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is required. 
  • Minimum of six years of experience in Site Supervision execution in the offshore construction industry. Candidates MUST have experience on projects involving offshore structures.  Candidates must be prepared for 30% to 50% travel to in this position.  Candidates should also have familiarity with National and International Codes (ABS, API, IMO, etc) and Standards and Classification Society Rules, as well as working knowledge of normal commercial and marine fabrication materials, procedures, and capabilities. Engineering Degree nice to have (Structural, Naval Architecture, or Construction)

    Experience should also include the following:

    •Experience with at least two FPSO construction projects involving topsides construction
    •Management of at least 10,000t topsides construction
    •Management of a team of Construction Superintendent and Construction Supervisors, and during the commissioning phase, a team of same plus Technicians
    •Management of teams in charge of the Construction yard project management
    •Exposure to interaction with the final client during past construction assignments
    •Exposure and understanding and participating in managing of the contractual requirements and the interface with remote Engineering center
