Pay Range: $82,649 – $123,148

What you’ll be working on:

 

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the overall management and direction of the facility, which is on average less than 50,000 square feet and employes less than 20 Team members in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations and laws. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day function of the facility. This position ensures that financial results, including sales, expenses and profits, meet and exceed set targetsThis role also has a constant focus on growing the business through full utilization of inbound inventory. The WM is responsible for managing and developing areas of the sustainability program including energy conservation, waste management, water conservation, department, and employee engagement. Educates and lead the team on Sustainability and ways to become effectively environmentally friendly. Always looking for ways to Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose. This position reports directly to the Director of Wholesale.

 

  • Operational Performance:

o         The performance of this JD is intended for a facility supporting smaller markets which can range from 20 to 40 stores, and the facility is on average less than 50,000 square feet. Ensure facility performance meets targets in Sales, Profit, Production, and Productivity based on annual performance expectations. Continually monitor and set the pace of work. Have awareness of corporate objectives and an understanding of local and international market potential. Has the ability to analyze key metrics and information, tie findings to observations and take appropriate action. Inspect facility activity, ensure productivity, inbound and outbound freight. Additionally, WM stays involved to support company growth and initiative through acquisition, conversion and business development. Has an active role in testing new initiatives throughout the region. Establishes, implements and manages procedures in order to regularly support other key departments of the company to achieve their business goals.

  • Leadership and Development:

o         Lead, Direct and Supervise the work of the management team and through them to entire team. Oversee and proactively acts on planning Staffing needs, Recruiting, Selecting and Training team members at all levels. Regularly observe, assess, interact, coach and counsel the team. Regular interaction, training, coaching and counseling of management team. Identify and develop high potential team members for all management positions through on-the-job, guided work. Maintain a respectful values-driven workplace. Use open communication tools and convert team member input into meaningful action. Address complaints and resolve issues consistent with our values, policies and procedures. Provide recognition and candid feedback. Receive and relay business information, initiatives, expectations, priorities, etc.

  • Logistic Transportation Management:

o         Basic functional knowledge of supply chain management, Local and International. Including Ground, Rail, and Ocean freight. Storing goods, Dispatching orders and tracking transportation vehicles. Also familiar with Local and International Safety processes and Legal regulations. Ensure that all shipments are handled quickly, safely and within budget. Plan and supervise the shipments from production to the end-user. Schedule of freight routes. Tracking orders using functional systems. Transportation costs, shipping documents. Maintenance and repair for transportation vehicles and equipment. Cost-effective shipping methods. Equipment safety. Proper use of machines and handling of hazardous material. Organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders. Compliance with company policies and shipping legislation.

  • Customer Service:

o         Actively engages with the Sales team and Customers to deliver a positive experience by setting the example for, as well as training and coaching, customer and donor service expectations, working with all members of management to ensure execution. Receive and respond to customer questions, requests and complaints. Ensure a quick solution to customer, accurate and positive cash register experience for customers. Ensure a quick and informative experience for donors. Actively engage with the sales team/customer by seeking firsthand feedback to make improvements to all aspects of the customer need. Guide management team to execute, implementing improvements. Assist sales team per Company standards.

  • Loss Prevention and Safety:

o         Protect company assets and information by ensuring their safe handling, security and integrity. Proactively promote loss prevention awareness by upholding procedures and ensuring policies are in place. Maintain a safe work environment through education, consistent follow up, ensuring policies and procedures are in place, and supporting the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). Acts as role model of desired loss prevention and safety awareness in the facility. Demonstrates proactive focus, calling attention to workplace conditions, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and team member behaviors that may contribute to internal/external vulnerabilities. Verifies that facility is compliant with company loss prevention and safety policies and procedures and state/provincial regulations; in partnership with the Regional LP Manager and National Safety Coordinator, ensures all elements of LP and Safety audits are completed, corrected and sustained. WM is required to have effective leadership skills to successfully manage, guide, and advise their teams on how to Prep, Train and Respond to HAZMAT related Standards and Incidents. He or She also help construct removal plans, that should be easily understandable and simple for their team to follow. Which requires good strategy-building and organizational abilities. Regularly reviews Health & Safety Committee Meeting minutes.

  • Responsible for the overall management and direction of all management and team members in accordance with Savers / Value Village policies and applicable laws. This includes implementing and administering company programs, policies and procedures. Able to make decisions and take reasonable action in the absence of the direct-reportee and/or corporate support to ensure successful operation. Leverage regional resources as appropriate. Perform any other task, function or responsibility as instructed by their immediate supervisor and/or superior manager of the Company

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma; Post-Secondary degree/diploma preferred.
  • 3+ years of results-driven warehouse, distribution, production management or industrial management experience.

  • Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to plan, organize, execute and manage the work of others.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or verbal form.
  • Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.

  • Frequently required to read written & electronic documents and product labels.
  • Continuously needs to hear and verbally communicate in order to interact with and respond to management, team members and customers. Will need to hear requests in person and via intercom and telephone.
  • Will rarely be exposed to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler, Big Joe), solvents (cleaners, detergents), radiation (Microwave in break room), continuously exposed to dust and frequently exposed to temperature fluctuations.
