Job Family: Risk

Monitors activities to minimize the company's exposure to risk. Activities may include quantitative analysis, risk identification and remediation. Represents or supports the reputation of the company to minimize compliance and regulatory risk by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. Responsible for ensuring that all of the company's activities adhere to the necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Job Function: Business Control

Ensures transparency of business results, finance and processes. Typically organizes a reporting system and tracks goals accomplishment, collect and process data and provides managers with all necessary company management data and information.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will partner with Business Intelligence and Information Technology teams to develop business requirements for all data, segmentation and sampling files used by the 1st Line of Defense Quality Control team.  Demonstrate initiative and excellence while meeting expected timelines. Leverage data gathering, consolidation and analysis skills to provide insight to business leaders for areas of opportunity and improvement.  Drive efficiencies and effectiveness of the team to ensure goals are achieved.  Promotes risk management as an inherent part of the organization’s strategic focus.
     

    What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for critical and complex operational processes ensuring compliance with applicable business procedures, policies, and associated regulatory requirements.  
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external service providers to document and establish data resource requirements, scheduling and assignments.
  • Applies advanced knowledge of policies and procedures to drive the design, assessment and/or administration of quality tests.
  • Identify, monitor and evaluate reporting, business processes, metrics, and trends for adherence to internal standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Partners with various lines of defense, to share information and escalate issues as needed.
  • Demonstrated judgement in escalation, ensuring risk-based clear line of sight for senior executives into existing and emerging issues/incidents.
  • Ability to build credibility with, collaborate with, and influence line of business executives.
  • Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Superior project management skills.
  • Ability to constructively work both independently and in collaborative environments involving all levels of management and employees
  • Ability to anticipate the impact of regulatory and other environmental factors and proactively take action to ensure the team/function/enterprise is prepared.

  • Strong understanding of BSA/AML and OFAC regulations, regulatory expectations and industry leading practices.
  • Ability to work with limited oversight from manager.
  • In depth research and analysis skills for more complex and critical data, interpret and communicate industry trends.

Requirements:

  • Education -
    • Bachelor's Degree: Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field.
    • or equivalent work experience
    • Master's Degree: Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field.
  • Experience -
    • 9-12 years Risk Management, Internal Controls, Auditing, Credit Management, relevant line of business experience and/or legal or regulatory experience.
    • 5-9 years 5-10 years experience in the Business Unit.
  • Skills & Abilities -
    • Demonstrated experience executing risk projects across multiple business lines offering a wide variety of financial services products and services.
    • Advanced knowledge of the financial services sector, particularly with the competitive dynamics and products in retail banking and risk management.
    • Demonstrated thought leadership and application of operational risk identification and mitigation practices and procedures.
    • Advanced understanding of the regulatory environment and how the risks of the products and services the bank offers are viewed by the Second Line of Defense and regulators.
    • Demonstrated judgement in escalation, ensuring risk-based clear line of sight for senior executives into existing and emerging issues/incidents.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently: Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
