Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Jose is looking for a talented and motivated RF systems engineer. Candidate will work as part of the Connectivity Location team responsible for system/algorithm design, modeling/implementation, and product performance optimization of cutting-edge location IP that powers some of the top brands in mobile and wearable markets.


  • Lead RF, analog and mixed signal architecture definition which includes frequency planning, filter design, gain control, calibration state machines, desense architecture, coexistence architecture etc
  • Define specifications of the chain and of various components in the RF/analog/mixed-signal chains using objective modeling and/or evaluation techniques. Publish and review the specifications with IP designers, and RF SW driver developers.
  • Collaborate closely with RF designers, mixed-signal designers, ASIC designers and RF SW driver developers to drive the implementation of optimal HW/SW architecture and algorithms that meet the target performance goals.
  • Build MATLAB and/or C/C++ models to characterize system performance/behavior, validate function and verify ASIC design and interfaces.
  • Develop signal processing algorithms for analog and digital front end of the receiver.
  • Define floating and fixed point architecture for receiver.
  • Work with software/firmware engineers in improving system performance
  • Characterize and optimize chip performance through lab and field tests.
  • Must be open for occasional international travel (up to ~2 trips a year).


  • Deep understanding and experience with modeling radio transceivers for a wireless technology such as GNSS, WiFi, BT, LTE, 5G
  • Prior experience defining specifications for RF systems – analog/RF front end, mixed-signal, PLLs, XO, co-existence etc
  • Prior experience with defining link budgets, gain distributions, noise figure analysis, linearity, ADC dynamic range, calibration state machines etc
  • Strong in signal processing, sampling theory, wireless receiver architectures, RF impairment modeling, etc
  • Experience with HW platform level triage, coexistence, RFI, thermals etc
  • Experience working with ASIC, platform FW and DSP FW teams in systems engineering capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communication and teamwork skills
  • C, C++, MATLAB coding skills
  • PhD with 5+ years or MS with 8+ years in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or related
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


  • Familiarity with receiver algorithms such as acquisition, tracking etc
  • Good understanding of GNSS receiver chains
  • Performance characterization and root-causing experience
