Machine Learning Research Intern 

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Jose is looking for an outstanding and self-motivated Research Intern this summer to aid in building novel systems for text classification, text generation, and temporal analysis of text data. Candidate will work as part of a team on the research, experimentation, analysis, and implementation of algorithms for text classification, text generation, and text analysis. Candidate will aid in designing novel algorithms and language models to generate text, extract temporal relations in text data, and provide reasoning to draw insights from the data. Responsibilities:                                      

  • Conduct scientific research to design and develop novel machine learning algorithms for language modeling to extract information from temporal text data and generate meaningful text
  • Coordinate with other researchers in developing machine learning algorithms
  • Prepare presentations and technical reports to show experimental results and findings
  • Summarize and publish research findings in high-quality research paper and/or patent submissions
  • Ability to think creatively and to work well both as part of a team and as an individual contributor
  • Eager to learn new algorithms, new application areas, and new tools

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, information technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Background and experience in statistics or machine learning
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Programming skills such as Python or MATLAB

 

Preferred Qualifications:                                                            

  • Ph.D. student or Masters student in computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, information technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Strong background in machine learning, specifically deep learning
  • Background in natural language processing, text classification, and text generation algorithms
  • Knowledge of temporal text mining or working with temporal data
  • Strong programming skills such as Python or MATLAB
  • Strong research skills proven by publication record
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Tensforflow, Keras, or PyTorch
