Digital Media Planner/Buyer

Essential Functions

  • Has solid understanding of assigned client business verticals, objectives and strategies.
  • Leads E=MC2 planning process including research, evaluations and recommendations of media vehicles and tactics, all the way through plan development, presentation and follow up.  
  • Displays solid understanding of Velocity and how to apply the focus areas to job function.
  • Expected to help media team lead integration and collaboration with client and internal teams.
  • Works with other team members such as Assistant Media Planner/Buyer and/or Media Planner/Buyer on a regular basis, including work flow, company policies and professional development in conjunction with Media Management.
  • Manages up to Supervisor and Associate Media Director on plan execution, project status, brainstorms and workflow.
  • Expected to establish and build strong relationships with internal teams, clients and media partners.
  • Attend client meetings as needed and run point on all digital media efforts, including all follow up correspondence.
  • Reviews and evaluates digital media proposals as submitted, developing POVs as needed.
  • Helps Media Supervisor lead media negotiations and stewardship of plan/flowcharts from concept to final invoice reconciliation.
  • Depending on client assignment, will be expected to work across all digital media, including Search, Display, Video, Social and Mobile, gaining advanced knowledge in all areas.
  • Expected to have strong understanding of research tools and systems, including IMS, MRI, Scarborough, ComScore, Media Tools, Doubleclick, Google Analytics, designated DSP(s), etc.
  • Expected to lead reporting, optimization (creative and ad placement) and analysis/ROI of all plans including attribution.
  • Run point on securing and facilitating added-value as part of plan negotiations achieving client and department objectives, as well as providing appropriate recaps.
  • Updates all media flowcharts, budget & invoice reconciliations, and plans as necessary.
  • Sends and tracks media authorizations and contracts, including proper documentation of all approvals, signed paperwork and revised documents.
  • Oversee development of creative grids with proper media specifications for account and creative teams as necessary.
  • Expected to have expert knowledge of media math and be able to display/teach others within the media team.
  • Should exhibit awareness and desire for continued education within advertising space including new media, industry trends, market conditions and research.
  • Works to analyze and monitor results of media campaigns/schedules as prepared, prepares follow-up presentations and recommends optimization strategies.
  • Will complete R&R’s rrMIT 201 training programs within first year of employment.
Other Responsibilities:
  •  Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Understands and abides by the agency’s business practices and philosophies as well as understands R&R’s policies and procedures.
  • Participates in R&R’s media training program and other training where assigned.

  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in advertising or related field or equivalent experience. Minimum two years’ experience in digital media planning and buying. Strong oral and written communication skills. Must have effective interpersonal skills and be computer literate.
