Proposals/Bid Writer - Major Works Division

Richard Crookes Constructions is a private, family-owned construction company that has been building for both government and private clients since 1976. The company delivers projects up to and in excess of $300m across all building sectors, primarily focused in NSW and the ACT. Our business is based on building long-term relationships with clients, partners and subcontractors, with over 60% of our projects coming from repeat clients. We have over 600 employees across our 4 offices.

We are currently looking for an experienced Bid Writer to join a fast-paced and exciting team. Reporting to General Manager as well as working with the New Business and project teams, this role is focused on bid writing rather than people management. Working with the Major Projects division, you will focus on projects over $150 million initially in the Healthcare, Education, Commercial and Defence sectors.

The major projects business will be able to deliver the everyday projects as well as the key marque Major projects providing our clients with the same consistent approach. In the role you will be responsible for:

  1. EOIs and Tender Submissions
  • Efficiently manage the EOI/Tender Bid process from end to end, including
    • Draft and manage bid plan
    • Drive win strategy and best practice
    • Conduct start up and ongoing bid management meetings
    • Complete non-technical content for submissions
    • Edit technical schedules to align with client needs
    • Manage input from other stakeholders
    • Final production and submission of documents
    • Post tender presentations and responses

  • Facilitate effective and constructive collaboration and communication amongst all bid team members by influencing others and providing a positive work environment.
  • Work with the team to inspire and drive cohesive tender content and outputs with regard to the Win Strategy
  • Review key document schedules to ensure bid members are producing content that is in line with the win strategy
  • Project Manage all bid related activities to ensure completion according to agreed time frames, whilst ensuring RCC quality standards achieved
  • Support the Marketing Manager / General Manager to suggest and/or implement improvements to the tendering process, documentation, systems as required.

Skills competency and experience:

  • Experience working as a Proposal or Bid Writer/Manager in the construction industry
  • Significant experience preparing and managing bids over $150m
  • Experience producing high quality marketing material and presentations
  • Advanced writing skills and ability to develop and manage submission content
  • Ability to managing a team, allocating resources, content and deadlines in line with the RCC culture
  • A pro-active self-starter who can operate both individually and as part of a team
  • Advanced editing and revision skills
